Top 4 Movie Trailers of 2008

VideoCVS picks their top 5 movie trailers of 2008. I much liked the following trailers: The Dark Knight, The Incredible Hulk, Tropic Thunder, Iron Man. I shall tell you about each film apart.

1. The Dark Knight – is a 2008 American superhero film directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film is part of Nolan’s Batman film series and a sequel to 2005′s Batman Begins. Christian Bale reprises the lead role. The plot of the film focuses on Batman’s fight against a new villain, the Joker (Heath Ledger), and his relationships with police lieutenant James Gordon (Gary Oldman), district attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and his old friend and love interest, assistant D.A. Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal). For his conception of the film, Nolan was inspired by the Joker’s first two appearances in the comics and Batman: The Long Halloween. The Dark Knight was filmed primarily in Chicago, as well as in several other locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong. Nolan used an IMAX camera to film some sequences, including the Joker’s first appearance in the film.

Tropic Thunder

Actors, studio execs, action epics, Vietnam War movies, classic rock film soundtracks, and even art films are all fair game in Tropic Thunder, Ben Stiller’s mostly hilarious send-up of pompous Hollywood types. By the time Tropic Thunder ends, Stiller’s stuck his comedy knife in deep and eviscerated Sean Penn’s I Am Sam performance, smarmy actors, and out-of-control film industry big wigs.

Tropic Thunder goes way beyond where past spoof movies have ventured. Robert Downey Jr plays an Oscar-winning Aussie who undergoes a skin pigmentation procedure in order to darken his skin enough so that he can play an African-American soldier. Not many modern films would attempt something that crazy. But it’s not just that unusual storyline that puts Tropic Thunder in a league of its own. It took a lot of guts for Ben Stiller and co-writer Justin Theroux to call out their fellow actors, yet what’s even more impressive is that moviegoers don’t have to get every single in-joke to find Tropic Thunder funny.

Top 12 Movies in History That Were Ahead of Their Time

These movies are judged as being ahead of their time primarily because of their technical and visual effects achievements. Most of these became the staple for referencing great visual effects after they came out. It’s not necessarily that their subject matter or content was not accepted until years later (like Napoleon Dynamite).

I’m sure there were a couple I missed (it was tough not putting Blade Runner) that can still be recognized. I invite any readers who would like to voice their opinion to do so in the comments below, but I’ll stand firmly by these 12 as the greatest examples of movies ahead of their time when they were released.
